COMMON QUESTIONS

How Bid Budi works, and who is responsible for what

Bid Budi is the auction house. The storage facility is the seller. Almost every question here turns on that one line: we run the sale and keep the record of it, and the facility is the party that holds the goods, decides to sell them and answers for the right to.

What a lot is, what the photographs prove, and what nobody is claiming about the contents.

What am I actually bidding on?

The entire contents of one storage unit, sold as one lot, exactly as photographed. You take all of it — you cannot buy part of a unit and leave the rest. There is no inventory, because nobody has opened the unit to make one.

Can I view the unit before I bid?

No, and neither has anyone else. The unit is photographed from the doorway and from each corner without entry and without anything being moved — at least 2 photographs, taken within 1 hours of the unit being submitted and from within 100 metres of the facility’s recorded coordinates — and then sealed under the facility’s own coded lock. The seal is broken in front of you at collection.

How do I know the photographs are real?

Each one is fingerprinted with a SHA-256 hash as it arrives, and the strip under the photographs shows the capture time read from the file, how far the camera was from the facility, who took it, whether it was captured in the app or uploaded, and when the unit was sealed. A field that was never recorded stays on the page reading NOT RECORDED, because a missing field is something you are entitled to know rather than something we should tidy away. What each field means.

Does Bid Budi guarantee what is in the unit?

No, and nothing on this site claims to. Nobody has opened the unit, listed its contents or valued them. You are bidding on what the photographs show and on nothing more. What is guaranteed is the record: that these photographs are the ones taken at that unit at that time, that they were reviewed before release, and that the unit was sealed until you were standing at it.

What about firearms, or identity documents?

Identity documents, firearms and other restricted items found in a unit do not pass to the purchaser. That is the law rather than a platform undertaking — a firearm cannot be transferred in an auction lot to whoever happened to bid highest — and they remain the responsibility of the facility, which deals with them under its own obligations.

I found somebody’s personal papers in the unit.

Hand them to the facility. Personal documents belong to the person they name, not to the lot, and the facility is the party that can return them.

Can the contents be delivered to me?

No. Nothing is shipped. You collect in person from the unit at the facility, or send an authorised collector you have nominated in advance.

The figures here are the platform’s current defaults. Each auction is sold on the rule set snapshotted onto it when it was released, published as that auction’s own Rules of Auction — so where a number here and a number on a listing differ, the listing is the one that governs your sale.

Where this build is still standing on an open question, it says so. Several of the answers here are working decisions by the platform owner rather than settled law, and they are listed as exactly that. What is still unresolved.
